Interstate-95 Accident; Authorities Report That A Motorcyclist Was Killed in Single-Vehicle Crash, Today

A tragic crash along Interstate 95 has left a motorcyclist dead, according to officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The fatal incident occurred Tuesday afternoon in Dorchester County at approximately 4:00 p.m. Authorities say the rider was traveling southbound near the 77-mile marker, between Saint George and Reevesville.

Preliminary findings indicate the crash involved a single vehicle—a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Investigators believe the rider lost control, causing the motorcycle to go down in the roadway. No other vehicles were directly involved.

Emergency crews responded quickly to the scene, but despite their efforts, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released as officials work to notify next of kin.

The crash caused temporary disruptions along the highway as troopers secured the area and began documenting the scene. Investigators are now working to determine what led to the loss of control, examining factors such as road conditions, speed, and possible mechanical issues, though no specific cause has been confirmed.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol has stated that the investigation remains active. Troopers are expected to review evidence, speak with any potential witnesses, and reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crash.
